When visitors come to the Maldives, many of them choose to go surfing in Northern Male due to its proximity to the international airport. This region boasts stunning waves, which are further categorized into the North Male Atoll and the South Male Atoll. Some of the most popular and internationally renowned breaks include Jailbreaks, Sultans, Ninjas, Chickens, Pasta Point, and Lohi’s. On the other hand, the South Male Atoll offers Guru’s, Twin Peaks, Quarter, Foxy’s, Riptides, and Kandooma’s right.

The ideal time to surf is during the spring and summer, with wave heights ranging from two to eight feet.

Who can surf and what are the waves?
From novices to professionals, the waves are from three to six feet, rarely 12 feet (very good swell). We usually recommends an intermediate surfing level to enjoy the surf in the Maldives. If you are a non-surfer and have never surfed before, there will be a session for you so you can learn about surfing. You can bring a five feet 11 or six feet surfboard. Two are enough but can bring three. You can bring a longboard as well, but have to inform them so they can rent it.

Non-surfing activities: If you are not a surfer, you can always ask the crew or captain to take you to a local island for an island hopping tour. You can snorkel, dive, read, relax and more. Dingy is usually used to bring guests to the island, for surfers. The crew can arrange diving for you. Please notify us when booking so they can be arranged. Buy DAN insurance and medical certificate with diving license. If you are alone the crew can take you to a resort or if a group wants to dive for a day or two the crew can organize a dive dhoni with all the necessary equipment.
